Andaz Maui- breakfast buffet to die for
The highly awarded farm to table Ka’ana kitchen served the best breakfast buffet i ever had. It is headed by the 2014 Maui chef of the year Isaac Bancaco. Right at the entrance of the restaurant you are greeted by the slow pressed juice bar. There is even a mixologist to help you pour and mix the type of juice you prefer. I chose mine with a ginger shot and a tumeric shot and I could not get enough of the fresh juice bar and is definitely a highlight of the buffet. The list of the juices that morning:
Kale, cucumber, avocado, lemon, pineapple banana
Coconut juice
Orange
Pineapple, guava, tangerine
Watermelon, pineapple, coconut, blackberry
Tumeric shots
Ginger shots
Our host explained that a lot of the produce, meat and cheese is sourced locally
Local cage free eggs
The pork is sourced from Malama Farm, located on Maui’s north shore. The Kurobota aka Berkshire pigs are raised on pasture and fed fresh fruits and vegetables and not waste or feed. Kurobota pork is the Kobe equivalent of beef, maintaining higher fat content and keeps the meat moist.
The goat cheese at the cold deli section comes from Surfing Goat Dairy in Kula. The Dairy also offers tours on site.
HiSpice island-made, tropical hot sauces infused with pineapple, mango-banana and guava-papaya. You can purchase these at the local grocery store or even on Amazon.
The fruits are mainly local and are of very high quality, the papayas are tree ripened and very fragrant.
Hot foods selection
You can find all the hot foods that you expect from a hot buffet breakfast and more. There is a cinnamon bun waffle which tastes just like one in a waffle shell and local lilikoi(passion fruit) bread
Deli selection
Smoked salmon, proscuitto, grilled asparagus, grilled endives, local goat cheese, 5 different types of milk ( 1%, homo, almond, soy and goat), homemade yogurt and the list goes on and on.
Omlete counter
You can choose ingredients for your own omlete. It gets busy in the morning, come here first.
Grains & Pastry counter
Also serving up lots of gluten free options, scones, muffins, breads and the famous hawaiian macadamia nut banana bread.
Fruits counter
Avocado, strawberries, banana, apples, pears, papaya, fine apple and citrus.
You can choose to sit inside or outside. The patio section installed a bird screen so you can enjoy the view and the air without being bothered by the birds, a thoughtful touch.
Breakfast is served from 6:30 - 11 am and you can get enough food to last till dinner. The buffet comes at a price tag of $47 USD per person (2017 price) but the value is there. Price and value are sometimes not equal but for this one, the value is there.
