Road to Hana Thai food

One of the most popular things to do in Maui is Road to Hana. On the way to Hana, you can take a lunch break near the Black Rock beach. A friend recommended me a thai food truck that is located beside the high school. A popular spot for locals as well.

Tropical banana trees feels just like the one found in Thailand. Banana trees surround the parking area beside the food truck. The menu change from day to day based on the fish of the day. We got to try the mahi mahi which is a fish with a higher fat content, firmer meat and a stronger smell. I was quite shocked at first when i looked for a picture of what a Mahi mahi looks like in real life. Try searching it, it looks like a pet fish the Hulk keeps at home. We also got the papaya salad with fried chicken wings. When i looked into the kitchen area, there were two thai chefs preparing and stir frying the dishes.

The thai iced tea was very strong and smooth as well. Enough caffeine for the long drive on Hana.

The mahi mahi was deliciously fried, crispy outside and moist inside. The stir fried cashews added a layer of fragrance to the dish.  It reminds me of a classic hawaiian fish dish with macadamia nuts. Classic Hawaiian dish with Thai spin.

The chicken wings were fried to perfection, juices flowed out as you bite into the wings. The papaya salad is very refreshing and packs enough of a punch. The green papaya used were crunchy and pairs well with the sweet, savory, pungent fish sauce salad dressing.

The only downer is that you will have to walk across the street to the ball park to find public restrooms.
