Coast seafood restaurant

Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver is a chic seafood house. Coast, as the name suggests, is a place for eating seafood. It is part of the Glowbal group and the seafood selection and execution does not disappoint.

The patio seating is covered and has sufficient heating outside to ensure that patio seating is still comfortable in the winter months. There is a huge totem pole like bar right in the middle of the restaurant, with seafood displays surrounding the bar area. You will not be mistaken that you are here to eat seafood. The menu is seafood heavy and we had the Grand chilled seafood tower with a hot seafood stew.

I was disappointed by the size of the "Grand" seafood tower when our server brought it over but once we cracked into the seafood, it was thumbs up for the quality. The kusshi oysters are the biggest i ever had and the taste is out of this world. Farmed in the British columbia regions, these oysters in Japanese means "precious". These are usually smaller and starts off with a salty taste, then transitions to sweet and the aftertaste is a mild and lingering sweetness. No wonder they are so highly priced. Usually Kusshi are the smallest in size but these Kusshi served on the platter are huge but still packing the flavor of smaller ones. The best time to eat these shellfish are in the witner months when the glacier runoffs cool the ocean temperature off the coast of British Columbia.

The crab legs are pretty typical and the shrimp are big and succulent.

The hot seafood stew is a nice warm touch to add to our cold meal. It is a tomato based stew with a half lobster, fresh clams, fresh mussels and served with toast and butter. Nice warm way to finish the evening.
